Action Team Meeting – Monday, October 3

On Monday, October 3 from 6:00 to 7:30pm, CBNO will host a NOLA CPP Action Team meeting. We have a number of important topics to cover. We will discuss the Neighborhood Engagement Office kicking off the Neighborhood Participation Program (NPP) process. In addition, we will discuss meetings with the Mayor and City Planning Commission staff. This is a very important meeting where we will discuss our strategy to advocate for our work on the NOLA CPP Model.

With everything that is happening, it is important to be involved with the NOLA CPP Action Team. We need people to be active in the Action Team, working with the NPP process, and continuing to advocate for a strong CPP. Here are the details of the Action Team meeting:

City Announces the Process to Create a Neighborhood Participation Program

The Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office has announced the process that will be used to create a Neighborhood Participation Program (NPP) for the City. NEO outlines a five-phase process that takes place between now and May 2013. The first phase will develop the NPP framework. The next two phases focus on the CPC’s NPP component. The final two phases expand the NPP citywide. Here is the breakdown of the five phases:

• Phase I-Framework development of City’s NPP – August to October 2011

• Phase II-Development and adoption of City Planning Commission’s NPP component – October 2011 to March 2012

• Phase III-Pilot implementation/evaluation of the City Planning Commission’s NPP component – April 2012-September 2012

• Phase IV-Limited implementation/evaluation of City’s NPP across targeted city government departments – November 2012-March 2013

• Phase V-Comprehensive implementation of the City’s NPP (city-wide program finalization with lessons learned from initial implementation) – May 2013

 

The NPP work will be guided by the Coordinating Team that includes the following: CPC staff and Commission members, Key Administration Staff, and a Community Working Group (which is the original task force appointed by City Council and additional community members recommend by CPC). The Coordinating Team is scheduled to meet on September 29, October 12, and October 19.

Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance Meetings

The District E community budget meeting in New Orleans East was held at the Household of Faith Church on Tuesday, August 30. Mayor’s District D Budget Meeting Recap
