Master Plan Text Amendment #19 before City Planning on Tuesday

Master Plan Amendment Text Amendment #19 is going back before the City Planning Commission for further review and a public hearing. The City Planning Commission public hearing and vote will take place at their Tuesday, August 28 meeting, no earlier than 3pm. You can review City Planning’s public hearing notice on its website. The City Planning staff will release a staff report by Friday afternoon. To view the staff report, go to the CPC video page, click on the agenda link for the August 28 meeting (when it becomes available), and go to Master Plan Amendments. No matter what the vote is at the City Planning Commission, its recommendation will go back to City Council for final approval.

At this hearing, City Planning will once again vote on removing District Councils from the Master Plan. District Councils are a critical component of the New Orleans Citizen Participation Plan, and should be preserved in the Master Plan. In it’s current form, the proposed sweeping changes to the Community Participation Plan chapter of the Master Plan is unacceptable. We hope that the Planning Commission will vote against Text Amendment #19 or limit the scope of the proposed changes to preserve District Councils and the work on the Master Plan done by thousands of New Orleanians.
