On June 28, City Council voted to send 15 Master Plan Amendments back to the City Planning Commission for further review and a public hearing. One of those amendments was Text Amendment #19. The City Planning Commission public hearing and vote will take place at their Tuesday, August 28 meeting, no earlier than 3pm. You can review City Planning’s public hearing notice on its website. No matter what the vote is at the City Planning Commission, its recommendation will go back to City Council for final approval.
At this hearing, City Planning will once again vote on removing District Councils from the Master Plan. District Councils are a critical component of the New Orleans Citizen Participation Plan, and should be preserved in the Master Plan. We oppose Text Amendment #19, and hope that CPC will vote against this amendment or at least approve revised language that would preserve District Councils in the Master Plan.
