At today’s meeting, City Council once again voted to defer City Planning’s Neighborhood Participation Program (NPP). The NPP has been before City Council for almost a year, and they have voted a number of times to move NPP forward. However, the final vote on the ordinance that will update the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to implement the NPP has been deferred a number of times since he ordinance first came up on May 16. The latest deferral was at the request of Councilmember Hedge-Morrell who said that she did not think that the NPP would come up for a vote at today’s meeting. The NPP was on the City Council press release that was sent out prior to the meeting. The NPP has been deferred to City Council’s August 8, 2013 meeting.
More information about the NPP can be found at the City Planning Commission’s website. Here is the City Council Ordinance that would incorporate the NPP into the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. You can watch the video of today’s City Council meeting at this link (go to the 1 hour 44 minute mark).
